Learn To Forgive- When The Pain Is Deep How Do You Forgive Others And Yourself
Sometimes forgiveness is a very hard thing to do! In some circumstances forgiveness is not just hard it may seem almost impossible. It can be scary and it can seem like you are giving the offender a chance to live without any consequences. Forgiveness is the act of washing away all guilt for an action of another. Sometimes the guilt is just too large and we think we are best suited by holding that person's offense before them. Here is the truth of the matter about forgiveness.
Forgiveness is about you, not about the other person. Often we think about the other person when we think about forgiveness. The fact is that forgiveness is all about your healing. In most situations harboring an anger against another person causes them no problems at all. What you will find is that holding grudges only effects one person and that is you. The more you hang on to it the more it will cause problems in your life.
I know this because I held anger towards a person in my life for three years. They had severely wronged me and I was very upset at them. What I learned was the burning anger I kept bottled up inside me burned only me. Their life has moved on like nothing has happened. They didn't feel the daily pain that I was putting myself through. So first and foremost I forgave them to heal myself. To finally walk away from the pain I was going through.
Forgiveness is about others. When you truly forgive it allows you to be a better friend, spouse, or partner to others. People who walk around with un-forgiveness in their heart are very distrusting and they are not able to build significant, healthy relationships with anyone else. When you forgive you can begin building the bridges back that were burned down. Trust is a key element in all relationships and it will take time to rebuild. Forgiveness is the first step.
You want to become the stronger person, learn to forgive, only the weak hold onto grudges. Many times we associated forgiveness with giving up, but it is actually the opposite of that. It becomes a point in your life where you gain control over a situation that once had you bound, worried, anxious, and depressed. Forgiveness is the key to strength in your life.
