How to Replace a Fan Belt

1). Locate the fan belt in your vehicle and notice how it is wound around each of the pulleys so you can put the new fan belt in the same way.
2). Find the adjustment bolt on the alternator, then use a socket wrench to loosen the bolt and move the alternator forward until the belt is loose enough to take off the pulley.
3). Remove the belt from around the fan blades and other pulleys, then take it out of the engine compartment.
4). Place the new fan belt in the engine by putting it around the pulleys the same way the old one was positioned.
5). Line the fan belt up over the alternator pulley and pull back on the alternator until the belt is tight, then tighten the alternator adjustment belt with a socket wrench.
6). Start the engine of your vehicle to verify the fan belt is working properly, then shut the engine off.
