Baltimore, Maryland is known for its history, harbor, architecture and culture but not, unfortunately, for its downtown campgrounds. RV campers do have several options within half an hour's drive of the city, though. You can choose a natural setting or a full-service RV park: Both options give you quick access to the city and thus, the best of both worlds. - Patapsco Valley State Park encompasses 32 miles of the Patapsco River and over 16,000 acres of land. At this state park you can hike, bike, ride horses, fish and take part in a number of water-based sports, such as canoeing. One of Maryland's oldest state parks, Patapsco Valley offers 170 miles of trails, picnic facilities and, of course, camping.
The park is not a continuous area, but rather is arranged in "clumps" or "areas" along the river. You can reserve a spot up to one year in advance. The Hilton Area and Hollofield Area both have family campsites.
