How to Make a Guitar Stand

    • 1). Draw your guitar stand design on the piece of plywood. Use a pencil to sketch your design on the wood first, and once you get your design placed the way you like it, trace over the pencil with a pen to make guide lines you can see.

    • 2). Cut the design out of the plywood sheet with the jigsaw. Be careful to stay on the guide lines you drew on the wood. When you are done cutting, you should have two upright pieces with hooks at the bottom where you will place your guitar body.

    • 3). Use a router to router the outside edges of the guitar stand. Sand down the edges to make them completely smooth.

    • 4). Attach both upright pieces together using a hinge. The hinge will allow you to spread out the stand so that it can fit a wide variety of guitars. Use screws to secure the hinge in place.

    • 5). Paint the stand. Give the first coat of paint at least 24 hours to dry before putting on a second coat.
