A Professor"s Guide to Breeding A Pygmy Marmoset

How to breed Pygmy Marmosets is an incredible challenge.
Breeding should not be taken by somebody who is unprepared.
To make sure that they have the correct legal documents, you should do adequate research.
You have to possess specific classified license which varies from state to country.
After that, you can breed it following certain suggestions made by professors.
Here are some items of which you have to take notice of.
Patience You should know that hand breed and raise require an incredible amount of time, emotional energy and devotion.
Infants should be carried by their owners as much as possible for warmth and emotional security to simulate their natural lives.
It is unnatural and cruel that to keep a baby on a stuffed animal surrogate for extended periods of time.
You must take care of it like a mother.
Hand breed You have to learn to take care of babies.
They usually give birth to triplets and sometimes twins and quadruplets.
Babies usually weigh only between 28 and 35 grams at birth.
They are born with mouthful of teeth, a full coat of fur, their eyes open and extremely strong muscular forearms for grasping onto their parents.
So you have to hand-raise them in an effort to produce better pets.
When they are between three and ten days of age, you can remove infants from their parents for hand raising so that the infants can receive colostrum and milk for the antibodies.
Although these are still wild animals and are not domesticated, you can help them with your patience.
If they hold their tails limp, check the tail to indicate the health of it.
Heating pad You can use a heating pad under the stuffed animal if the baby must be placed for short periods of time on a surrogate.
If the baby crawls between the stuffed animal and the pad, it can quickly overheat and die.
So do not use a regular plug-in type heading pad in case of an emergency.
Food They should be fed up with Enfamil human baby formula and you should drop a pediatric multi vitamin into the formula once a week.
Formula should be warmed to about one hundred degrees before you feed it.
Newborns must be stimulated in the perineal area to urinate and defecate and must be fed every two hours.
When they are about two weeks old, they will start to sleep through the night and you can have a little break then.
Now you have a general idea of breeding.
Try to do your best.
