Hi, my name is Hedi Alavi, and I'm going to explain how to count cadence on a bicycle trainer. Cadence is the speed at which you are pedaling. In order to count your cadence in an indoor or an outdoor bike it doesn't really matter, you would have to count your revolutions per minute. That's a pretty standard way of counting your cadence. Now for example, I always use my left leg to count my revolutions per minute and every time my foot hits a certain spot, so let's say the bottom of the pedal stroke, that's called your six o'clock. Every time my left foot hits the bottom of the pedal stroke, that's one revolution. So since we are doing revolutions per minute, I usually count it for 15 seconds and then I multiply that number by four and that gives you your revolutions per minute.
