Psych, A Great Detective Comedy on USA Network
Psych is a very funny show featuring Shawn Spencer and his childhood friend Burton Guster.
Shawn grew up with a father who forced him to learn everything there was to know about being a cop.
The most important thing he taught him was to be extremely observant.
He uses this skill to pretend that he is psychic while solving cases.
Psych is filled with a ton of pop culture references targeting an audience who grew up during the 1980's and 90's.
The relationships between the characters are even amusing with Shawn always badgering Carlton Lassiter, the head detective.
There are love triangles with Shawn, his girlfriend who he had liked in high school, and the other main detective on the show who he calls Jules.
The interesting aspect of the show that is a little far-fetched is that Shawn and Gus always seem to solve all of the crimes and that the two detectives never really end up doing as much as they should.
However, the two men never get asked to join the force, they just act as consultants and get paid by the Police Chief who they normally report to.
Finally, the relationship between Shawn and his father seems to always be a major storyline, just a little less than the story being covered.
Each episode starts out in the late 80's with Shawn as a kid and his father teaching him a new lesson.
There is a lot of tension between the two in the modern day, but everyone knows that they're just two guys who appreciate each other, even if they don't want to say it.
