Pet Insurance Is A Waste Of Money

When you say "Pet Insurance" it evokes some pretty strong responses in people.
Everything from eye rolling denunciation as a scam to blissful extollations of how wonderfully helpful it is.
Sadly, the former is all too often the case here in America.
This is because pet insurance hasn't yet caught on here like it has in the UK, Canada and Australia.
Even though it is gaining ground fast, many folks still laugh at the idea of pet insuranceor think it's a scam in the USA.
This is a real shame because 1 in every 3 pets needs emergency veterinary care each year.
When this happens pet owners without pet insurance face a tough decision...
Go into debt to pay for the life saving treatments needed or put their beloved pet down because they can not afford the veterinary care to save his life.
This is the situation pet insurance was created to avoid.
Let's face it, we are not a nation of savers.
If we had a culture of building savings accounts instead of rampant spending we probably wouldn't need pet insurance.
Heck, we probably wouldn't need a lot of things but the sad truth is we Americans are spenders not savers.
I do know a few people who are good savers.
Instead of buying pet insurance they have set up a savings account and deposit a fixed amount into it weekly.
They use the money in this account ONLY for their pets routine veterinary expenses.
They have also have a credit card set aside for emergency vet bills.
These people do not need pet insurance.
If you are dedicated and disciplined enough to do this then you don't need it either.
For the rest of us pet health insurance is a life saver...
literally.
That's not to say all pet insurance is created equal and there could be some bad deals out there.
So shopping around is a must.
Come on folks, this is no different than anything else.
Think about buying a car.
Do you buy the first one you see?Do you take the dealers word for it when they tell you something?NO!You shop around, compare products and get the input of others who have experience with the vehicle you are considering.
Shopping for pet insurance is no different.
You must consider the type of pet you need to insure.
The type of policy you are looking for.
Where you live, etc.
Then shop around to find the right pet health insurance plan for you.
Luckily you can do all of this online these days so it won't take all that long.
So is pet insurance a waste of money or a scam?Or is it a useful tool to help you keep your pets happy and healthy? After some deep soul searching and a little research on your part you'll find your answer.
