    Appalachian Regional Commission

    • The purpose of the Appalachian Regional Commission's grant is to provide funding for public infrastructure programs such as water, sewer, solid waste and housing; and human resource development like education, workforce development, healthcare, leadership and business development. This opportunity is open to local governments, special districts and nonprofit agencies. Grant awards range from $275,000 to $400,000 with a matching requirement of 20 percent to 50 percent depending on the economic vitality of the applicant.     Single Family Home Repair Loans and Grants

    • The Kentucky United States Department of Agriculture has grants for the repair of single family homes. According to the department, the purpose of this grant is to increase the availability of affordable opportunities to rural residents for making home repairs. This grant opportunity is open to very low income households in rural areas. Grants are available only to applicants who are 62 years of age or older who cannot afford to repay a loan for needed repairs. This grant will be used to fix health and safety hazards. Applications can be obtained from the local office in your area.

    Land & Water Conservation Fund

    • The Land & Water Conservation Fund is a federal grant that protects natural areas, obtains land for outdoor recreation and develops or renovates public outdoor facilities such as campgrounds, picnic areas, trails, fishing facilities and passive parks. This grant opportunity is open to cities, counties, state and federal agencies. Grant awards range from $5,000 to $75,000 and is a matching grants, meaning that applicants must be able to provide a portion of the funds needed for the project. To apply, applicants must submit applications online through the Kentucky state clearinghouse. Applications will be reviewed and updated online.
