How to Cancel Toyota's Tire Pressure Warning System

    • 1). Check the tire pressure of all four tires with a tire pressure gauge. Only do this when the tires are cold and the vehicle has been parked for at least three hours, according to the Toyota 4Runner 2004 Owner's Manual. Hot air in the tires will cause the gauge to read a higher tire pressure.

    • 2). Read your vehicle's manual or the tire information you received from your tire retailer, if the tires are not original to the vehicle. This information will tell you the correct tire pressure for your vehicle and tires.

    • 3). Use an air pump to fill the tire(s) with air, at a lower pressure than is recommended. This should cancel the tire pressure warning system. Most gas stations have air pumps to fill vehicle tires.

    • 4). If the sensor light does not turn off, check and fill (if necessary) the spare tire. The sensors are also attached to the vehicle's spare tire.

    • 5). Visit your local Toyota dealer if the tire light does not cancel even after ensuring that all five tires are within acceptable pressure limits. In this case, there may be a problem with the system itself.
