- 1). Drill two holes in the top of the bucket large enough to fit the bolts through. Space them appropriately so that the light fixture can mount onto the top of the bucket. Both holes should be in the center of the bucket top.
- 2). Drill a hole near the edge of the lid, as wide as the extension cord. Cut the female end of the extension cord off. Thread the cut end of the extension cord through top of the lid. Strip the wire and connect the wires to the light fixture.
- 3). Place the washers over the bolts. Thread the bolts through the bottom bucket holes from the outside to the inside, and through mount points of the light fixture. Secure the light fixture to the underside of the lid with the nuts.
- 4). Secure the holes with putty and screw the light bulb into the light fixture. Put the lid back on the bucket.
- 5). Hang the bucket from the handle from a sturdy branch. Plug the extension cord into the power source.
