Biography:

Born and raised in Ashtabula, Ohio, Smith is the only child of Freddie and Renee Smith. “I never grew up spoiled,” he insists. “My parents were very big on teaching me hard work.”

Smith discovered his love for performing as a teenager. It was during his last year of high school, when he decided to take a theater arts class. “We did a lot of improv stuff, and I really liked it,” he says. “Once I started taking that class, I knew what I wanted to do.”

In 2006, three weeks after graduating from high school, Smith packed up his car and moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career.

Within a year, he booked a role on Medium and appeared in the short film, Weak Species. Smith also landed several national commercials for Taco Bell, JC Penney, Petsmart and Samsung.

Smith got his big break when he landed the recurring role of Marco Salazar on 90210. A few months later, he auditioned for Days of Our Lives and won the role of Jackson “Sonny” Kiriakas, Justin and Adrienne’s openly gay son.

In addition to his love for work in front of the camera, Smith has also developed a passion for work behind it. He’s interested in directing and producing and has begun drafting concepts for movies and television.

Smith, who is single, lives in Los Angeles. He enjoys spending his free time watching basketball and baseball. He is also an avid chess and poker player. “I love anything with strategy,” he says. “And I’m really big on numbers.”
