How to Disinfect Hamster Equipment
- 1). Measure the veterinary disinfectant according to the manufacturer's instructions, and pour it into the spray bottle. DuPont's Virkon website states that 10 g of Virkon powder should be used for every liter of water.
- 2). Add water to the spray bottle following the product's measurement directions, and mix thoroughly with the disinfectant by shaking or stirring.
- 3). Lay a large towel or rag on a table or other flat surface, then place the hamster equipment to be disinfected on top of it.
- 4). Spray the hamster equipment liberally and evenly with the veterinary disinfectant. Spray inside and outside the equipment for maximum disinfection.
- 5). Allow the hamster equipment to air dry while laying on the towel. Once the equipment is completely dry, it will be ready for use.
