What if a Homeowner Doesn't Pay the HOA Fines?

Overview

  • Homeowners' Associations, or HOAs, are nonprofit associations created for the benefit of homeowners who purchase property within planned unit developments or within specific neighborhoods. Prevalent in some states more than others, HOAs collect dues from homeowners to enforce bylaws and covenants and to maintain common areas, including mowing and snow removal. HOAs can also collect dues to pay for utilities and trash collection. HOA payments typically must be paid monthly or quarterly, although in some communities, they are paid annually.
