Instructions for a Gas Trimmer

    Filling the Fuel Tank

    • There are several points to consider when using a gas-powered trimmer. Most gas trimmers will have two-cycle motors that will require you to mix oil and gas prior to filling the tank. Follow manufacturer instructions for proper mixing. Too much or not enough oil can lead to engine malfunctions.

    Starting the Trimmer

    • Turn the switch located on the trimmer to the "Run" position. A trimmer's starter cord is typically located to the rear of the engine housing. Grab the cord and pull it back with a quick jerk. If necessary, repeat the process until the trimmer starts.

    Trimmer Safety Tips

    • While using the trimmer, keep all moving parts away from your body and electrical wires. Wear safety glasses, hearing protection and appropriate clothing, such as closed-toe shoes and long pants.

    Cleaning the Trimmer

    • Once the trimmer has come to a complete stop, remove all debris from the machine to prevent rust and the build-up of waste, which can clog parts. Inspect the trimmer for any defects or faulty parts. While inspecting the trimmer, avoid the muffler, because it will be hot and can cause burns.
