Skin Firming Treatment

    Body Wraps

    • Spa treatments, such as body wraps, are a great way to firm and tone your skin. Three types of skin-firming body wraps are chocolate wraps, seaweed wraps, and mud wraps. Each of these contain antioxidants and minerals that clean your skin's pores and tighten your skin. With body wraps, one of the solutions is applied to your body while you're lying down. Your body is then wrapped in heated bandages or a thermal blanket and it is left in place for about an hour. After the hour is up, you are unwrapped, rinsed off and moisturizer is applied to your body. Your skin is left feeling softer, smoother and tighter.

    Exercise

    • One of the oldest ways to firm skin is through exercise. People who gain weight, or lose weight quickly, tend to get saggy skin. Exercise works the muscles and within three months of beginning an exercise program, you should notice your skin has become firmer. Exercises for toning the body are Pilates, strength training and aerobics. Sometimes people who lose a significant amount of weight in a short amount of time, have drastic saggy skin. Exercise will not totally tighten up the extra skin so other alternatives, like surgery, may be required to eliminate the extra skin.

    Collagen Lotions

    • Collagen is an active ingredient in a number of lotions on the market that improves the skin's elasticity and can help slow the process of sagging skin, sometimes reversing the effects. Vaseline and Revlon are two popular brands that contain collagen in their lotions. Twice a day, massage the lotion gently into the skin. Results of firmer looking skin should be noticed within two to three weeks after using lotions that contain collagen.
