The Best Way to Clean a Nalgene Water Bottle

    • 1). Empty the bottle of its contents.

    • 2). Disassemble the bottle. If dealing with a GoCup, grasp the outer cup sleeve and the neck of the bottle and pull the two pieces apart to slide the sleeve from the bottle. Unscrew the cap. If the bottle has wide-mouth tubing, remove the blue silicone piece from the black plastic and then pull the black plastic piece from the tube. Pry the end of the tube connected to the cap gently from the cap by rocking the tube side to side until it pulls from the cap.

    • 3). Wash the bottle parts. Place the parts in the top rack of your dishwasher away from the heat element and wash with other dishes; or wash by hand in warm, soapy water with a soft, lint-free microfiber cloth. If dealing with buildup or tough stains, scrub the pieces gently with a soft-bristled brush.

    • 4). Rinse under running tap water and then air-dry the pieces.

    • 5). Reassemble the bottle.
