Dash Removal on a Jeep Grand Cherokee
- 1). Disconnect the negative battery cable. Pry the defroster grill up with a slotted screwdriver. Use a trim tool to remove the two snap-fit bezels on the switch pod just below the instrument cluster.
- 2). Remove all the trim screws from the instrument cluster bezel with a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the instrument cluster bezel.
- 3). Open the glove box. Remove the screws securing the glove box bin with a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the glove box. Remove the panel screws for the surrounding panel with a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the panel from the dash.
- 4). Remove the two screws on the backside of the center instrument cluster by reaching through the left side of the glove box opening. Remove the two upper screws from the front side. Move the bezel out to release the bezel from its tab.
- 5). Remove the lower steering column trim screws with an Allen torx wrench. Remove the upper steering column trim.
- 6). Remove the knee blocker screws with a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the knee blocker.
- 7). Disconnect the steering column wiring. Remove two steering column bolts with a socket and ratchet. Remove the bolts below the steering column with a socket and ratchet. Remove the metal cross section. Lower the steering column. Lay the column on the driver side seat.
- 8). Pry the shift knob up and off of the shift lever. Use a slotted screwdriver to pry off the gear selection panel. Remove the mounting screws with a Phillips screwdriver.
- 9). Open the center glove box compartment. Remove the four screws with a Phillips screwdriver. Remove the two screws from inside the compartment with a Phillips screwdriver. Lift the console up over the shift lever. Remove the console from the vehicle.

Pull back the carpet by the shift lever. Remove the two bolts securing the instrument panel with a socket and ratchet. - 11
Remove the radio mounting screws with a Phillips screwdriver. Pull the radio out. Disconnect the wiring harness from the radio. - 12
Remove the mounting screws from the air conditioning control panel. Disconnect the wiring from the controls, cigar lighter and power outlet. Detach the lower floor heating duct. Disconnect the A/C vacuum lines. - 13
Pry the defroster grille up with a slotted screwdriver. Remove the four upper nuts with a deep well socket and ratchet. Remove the two side screws with a Phillips screwdriver. - 14
Disconnect any remaining electrical wires. Remove the wiring harness from the clips along the backside of the dash. Disconnect the air bag electrical connector. - 15
Remove the dash from the vehicle.
