The Greatest Love of All Is Staring Back at You From the Mirror
When you look in the mirror, how do you talk to yourself? Do you criticize your body and pick out its flaws? Maybe you even have a long list of defects that you readily point out to yourself, either verbally or in your mind.
Would you speak to a dear friend this way? I bet if any of us spoke to a friend the way we sometimes think about ourselves, we'd be very lonely.
Today, consider your body to be a dear friend.
You only get one body in this lifetime.
Care for it! Start by seeing the beauty in it.
This body is the vehicle for your spirit, your soul, to explore this world.
This body is with you from the time you wake in the morning until you go to sleep at night.
As you sleep, your body regulates itself...
just for you...
so that you stay alive.
We sometimes treat our cars better than we treat our own bodies.
We know that if we want a nice car, we need to take care of it.
We clean it and put good fuel in it.
We maintain it and I bet we even talk nicely to it at times (come on, admit it, your car has a name...
).
We don't abuse it if we want it to be dependable and to get us where we need to go.
Your body deserves such care as well.
With new thinking, we can start to see our body as our partner.
We can speak to it kindly.
Nurture it as we would a little child.
Love it.
I know it can be hard to break old habits.
We've been used to picking out our flaws and being our own worst critics.
Start with baby steps.
Any positive changes come with self-awareness.
Today, catch yourself when you are criticizing your body or something about you.
Play a little game with yourself.
The game goes like this.
1.
You become aware that you are being mean to yourself.
( or others) 2.
You immediately turn that thought around to something more positive.
3.
See how fast you can switch those negative thoughts to positive ones.
This gets easier the more you practice.
Soon, it will be so natural to you that you won't even notice you're doing it.
You know what? Your perception of yourself, others and your life will improve dramatically.
Have a wonderful day with your new best friend...
