Learning how to use ebay is easy even if you aren't very computer savy. Best of all buying items on ebay is free for buyers. You can find just about everything under the sun for sale on ebay and typically prices are cheaper than retail.

Here's some basic things you will need to purchase items from eBay:

INTERNET ACCESS: This is pretty obvious. In order to bid on anything on ebay you will first need access to the internet. If you only internet access is from work, you should be aware of your company's policies regarding shopping online on company time. Some employers frown on it while other employers tolerate it. You will also need an internet browser, some of the more popular browsers are Firefox, Safari and Internet Explorer.

EMAIL ACCOUNT: You need to have a working email account set up. Sometimes you may have a question or two for a seller before making a bid and an email account is necessary for the seller to respond or for you to get a notice that the seller has answered your question. Also when you make a winning bid or if you get out bid ebay will notify you via email.

CREDIT CARD OR BANK ACCOUNT SET UP WITH PAYPAL: Having a Paypal account linked to your ebay account is the easiest way to pay for items. A lot of sellers ONLY accept payments through Paypal so its a good idea to get your Paypal account set up prior to making your first bid.

EBAY USER ID: You will need to sign up with eBay and create a user ID. This is a simple process that should take you about 10 minutes or less. You will be asked for a user identification name, your name, address, phone number, and email address. Your user name is unique to only you and you will supply the ID name or you can have eBay help you think of ideas. Some ideas for creating a user ID could be hobbies you are into or collections that you enjoy or maybe even a beloved pets name. You will also have to pick a password. This password, in order to be secure, should be at least 6 characters long and contain numbers, letters and at least one upper case letter. It's best not to use anything someone that knows you could guess, like a pet's name.

Once you have all the above in place and have confirmed your ebay registration that you received via email, you are ready to make your first bid!
