How to Put Electrical Wires in a Tube
- 1). Unroll enough fish tape to reach the other side of the tube. A fish tape is a long metal or fiberglass rod that is very flexible. It comes in various size reels of 50 feet or more. A fish tape is designed to be pushed through conduit or tubing.
- 2). Push the fish tape through the tubing until it reaches the other side. Be sure to use a fish tape that will work with the size tubing involved. Fish tapes vary in rod diameter, so choose one that has a smaller diameter than the inside of the tubing.
- 3). Tie a pull string to the end of the fish tape once it exits the other end of the tubing. Pull the fish tape back through the tubing. This will pull the pull string into the tubing.
- 4). Cut the pull string from the fish tape once the fish tape is out of the tubing. Tie the end of the pull string to the end of the electrical wires to be pulled into the tubing. Once secure, have one person pulling on the pull string at the other end of the tubing while you push the electrical wire in. Continue this process until the electrical wire is completely installed in the tubing.
