Blood Tsunami - Thrash Metal

About.com Rating

The title of this CD isn't very creative, but it lets you know exactly what you're going to be getting. Plus the album cover is pretty cool, so that helps make up for the boring title. Blood Tsunami are a Norwegian band, and this is their first album. Their best known member is their drummer, the legendary Bård G. "Faust" Eithun (ex-Emperor, Zyklon, Aborym).

Thrash Metal is old school thrash that pulls no punches.

It's American Bay Area thrash with a healthy dose of German thrash mixed in. Dual guitars keep the shredding going full blast with tasty riffs and solos aplenty. Blood Tsunami takes quite a risk by having a ten minute instrumental on the album, but thanks to the excellent guitar work they pull it off.

Pete Evil is the band's vocalist (and one of the guitarists). His voice adds even more edge to the music. It's an angry and aggressive piercing scream, closer to black metal than death metal style. Blood Tsunami isn't breaking any new ground here, but fans of thrash metal might want to give this CD a spin.
