The Emergence of One Direction

The unfaltering emergence of music talent shows on TV has rekindled our fascination with the underdog achieving massive success.
It has brought us many new faces, new talents, most deserving of their newfound fame.
Of course, this is a rocky path and most have fallen by the wayside, but there are others, a select few it must be said, who have maintained their early progression and have remained in the spotlight.
It is difficult to quantify success, especially with those who came on a TV show with little to no experience or expectations.
Just to be on TV is an achievement for some.
To arrive as a solo act and end up being put in a band of four others, who finish in third place, could be a little daunting.
But One Direction seem to have taken all the hullaballoo that surrounds them in their stride.
Indeed, they look so self-assured and experienced; you'd be forgiven for thinking they had been in the business for years, rather than young artists trying to break into the industry.
Indeed, such is their meteoric rise, that they have begun to dominate the American and Asian charts and are household names already.
Much of this is down to both their image and the songs that they have had written for them.
The marketing behind them has been spot on and with Simon Cowell overseeing their progress, it isn't hard to realise why they have achieved much in such a short space of time.
They have begun to sell out tours such as at the American Airlines Arena and way in advance in America and Japan, which was once a prerequisite for British artists.
However, this has been far less common in the past decade.
Perhaps One Direction have reignited an interest in British music around the world.
They are certainly holding the banner at the moment and could be opening the floodgates for more, such as The Wanted into the Pop charts across the seas.
What is most surprising is that these were just lads who entered the X-Factor as solo artists, having never previously met each other.
They were eventually put together in the group section and ended up third in the overall competition.
This, for many, would be the last that was seen or heard of them, but evidently not for One Direction.
Their rise seems to be destined to keep moving upwardly and with only one album to their name, the sky is definitely the limit for these boys.
