Femme Fatale, The New Album By Britney Spears

Nominated for eight Grammy Awards, Spears won in 2005 for her single "Toxic" which took Best Dance Recording in 2005. In 2007, Britney hit a personal rock bottom when she checked into a drug rehabilitation centre and shaved her head. Down but not out, Spear's sixth album "Circus" released in 2008 and received critical and commercial success. Love or hate Britney Spears, she has had five albums debut at number one on the charts and continues to be one of the top-selling musical artists of the decade. Britney Spears is a pop goddess.

Now Britney Spears is back with her long-awaited seventh album, "Femme Fatale" (2011) on Jive Records.

Released in advance of the new album, the hit single Hold It Against Me broke records for sales in a single day. "Femme Fatale" opens with Til the World Ends, a pop dance music number that sets the mood for the whole album. Layered with electronica and hip hop beats, this song and most of the other songs on Femme Fatale, are dance anthems not meant to be taken too seriously.

On the fifth track of "Femme Fatale" entitled How I Roll, Britney sings, "I wanna go downtown where my posse's at, because I got nine lives like a kitty cat." While none of the songs on this album are written by Britney, clearly many of these songs are about an older, sexually liberated woman who enjoys flirting, dancing, and hanging with her mates. In fact, the whole album "Femme Fatale" could loosely provide a soundtrack for a movie about a girl and her friends who run into different boys and men as they go club-hopping in a large city.

Big Fat Bass, the eighth track on "Femme Fatale" features will.i.am of the Black Eyed Peas, is another dance ditty with Britney on treble and will.i.am on bass. Crank up the subwoofer and enjoy the big, bad bass on this fun track.

In the closing track on "Femme Fatale", Criminal, a girl laments to her mother about being in love with a criminal. The track uses a flute, or recorder, as part of the production quite successfully, and with pleasing contrast to the electronica which dominates the record.

This latest release from Britney Spears makes a great album for party music and for listening to while driving. The rhythms and production never stop the listener from actively moving to the beat of this well-produced and entertaining new album from Britney.

"Femme Fatale" is all about studio production and the song producers include: Dr. Luke, Max Martin, Billboard, Blood Shy, Dream Machine, Magnus, Benny Blanco, Henrik Jonback, Shellback, Fraser T Smith, JMIKE, and Ammo. Not enough Britney? No worries, "Femme Fatale" also comes in a deluxe edition that includes four additional tracks.
