How to Use Chlorine in Ponds

    • 1). Turn off the pond filter. Change the pond filter if it is dirty.

    • 2). Insert the pool pump into the pond. Pump 40 percent of the water out of the pond.

    • 3). Skim the surface of the pond. Brush the walls and floor of the pond to remove all visible algae.

    • 4). Refill the pond with water.

    • 5). Pour the chlorine into the pond. Read the chlorine packaging for the exact amount of chlorine to use. The amount will vary depending on the concentration of the chlorine.

    • 6). Turn on the pond filter. Any remaining algae will die in a few days.
