Pulmonary Hypertension Symptoms
- One of the more common symptoms of pulmonary hypertension would be a certain amount of pressure and pain that is isolated to the area of the chest.
- This pressure and pain is often accompanied by a rapid or racing heart rate. It may also manifest in palpitations in the heart.
- Since the heart is essentially working harder than it should and the blood pressure has increased around the lungs, a person will usually begin to suffer from a shortness of breath, as if he were winded.
- Often seen in conjunction with this shortness of breath, a person may also begin to experience the symptom of dizziness or lightheadedness. This sensation may become so intense that it may prompt a person to actually faint.
- With the racing heart and shortness of breath, many people who are suffering from pulmonary hypertension may begin to feel an overwhelming sense of fatigue or exhaustion.
- On occasion, a person who is suffering from pulmonary hypertension may actually see a change in the color of her skin. With this particular symptom, an individual would become somewhat blue in hue.
- A number of people living with pulmonary hypertension may experience a symptom that involves a fluid retention that results in a swelling of the ankles as well as legs. If the condition worsens, a person may begin to experience this same swelling up into his abdominal region.
