- One of the most appealing aspects of Mediterranean plants is that they thrive in poor soil. Therefore, there is no need for fertilizer. The only requirement for most Mediterranean plants is that they are not sitting in water.
- In Mediterranean areas, citrus plants such as the Meyer lemon and kumquats are extremely popular. It as also very common in those regions to grow a variety of herbs. These plants are generally planted in terra cotta pots. This makes for great decoration, easy rearrangement of plants and the ability to be brought inside in inclement weather.
