Ford first produced the 351 Windsor or "351W" small-block V-8 engine in 1969. Unlike the 351 Cleveland or Michigan engine blocks, which were unique unto their own, the Windsor block was based on the same block as the 260, 289 and 302 engines. As with many of its cars, Ford offered the new engine as optional equipment in the 1969 Torino. The 351W is fairly straightforward to work on, but its torque specifications should be carefully followed when performing a major overhaul.

    Cylinder Head Bolts

    • Tighten the 351's cylinder head bolts to within a range of 91 and 100 foot-pounds of torque.

    Crankshaft Pulley Bolts

    • Tighten the crankshaft pulley bolts to within a range of 70 and 90 foot-pounds of torque.

    Flywheel-to-Crankshaft Bolts

    • Tighten the flywheel-to-crankshaft bolts to within a range of 75 and 85 foot-pounds of torque.
