- 1). Check the floor where the base will be installed with a level. The base must sit on a level surface to drain properly.
- 2). Test fit the shower base. When positioned, the upper flange(s) of the base should meet squarely with the walls where the shower surround will be installed. The drain hole must be centered over the drain.
- 3). Remove the shower base. Attach the lower flange to the drainpipe. The upper edge of the flange must be flush with the surface of the floor.
- 4). Apply a thin layer of silicone sealant to the upper edge of the flange.
- 5). Set the shower base back in place. Insert the drain cap into the drain hole in the middle of the shower base and secure it with the screws included with the drain assembly.
- 6). Use a drill to make pilot holes through the base flanges over the centers of the wall studs to secure the base to the wall. Drive one 1 1/2-inch galvanized roofing nail through the flange and into each stud.
