Wind turbines -- more often than not -- are much larger when seen in person than envisioned when seen on television or in print. The average wind turbine stands about 229 tall since the height of a wind turbine is directly related to the size of the turbine attached. Today's largest wind turbines stand more than 570 feet tall -- half as big as the Empire State Building. The largest wind turbines are manufactured by companies in the United States and Europe.
