How to Make Fused Glass Flowers

    • 1). Choose a flower. If you are new to this craft, it is recommended that you use the image of a real, but simple, flower, such as a daisy.

    • 2). Draw the pieces. When making a fused glass flower, the technique requires you to construct the outside first. Using the daisy as an example, copy its petals five times on the white glass with your permanent marker. Repeat this process for the flower's center. In this case, the center will be a circular piece of yellow or orange glass.

    • 3). Cut out the pieces. Use your pistol-grip glass-cutter to cut an arc around one side of the petal. Do not cut along the actual outline. This will loosen the petal so that you can eventually break it from the glass. To do this, use your running pliers to break the glass along the curve you created. Once finished, repeat the process along the other side of the petal. Do the same for the flower's center.

    • 4). Complete the shape. Use your wheeled glass nippers to remove fine bits and indentations from your petal, along the outline you created with the permanent marker. Repeat steps 3 and 4 for any remaining petals and the center of the flower.

    • 5). Assemble the petals. Place the petals on a silicone baking sheet in accordance with your flower's design. For a daisy, the petals are arranged in a circle.

    • 6). Glue the petals. Apply a small amount of craft glue to the ends of the petals closest to the center. Glue each petal on top of the other at the center in this fashion.

    • 7). Attach the center. Since the petals are arranged on top of each other, there will be a small hole in the center. Cut a piece of yellow glass to fill the hole. Add glue to the bottom of the glass and place it in the gap. Put some glue on the bottom of your flower's center and attach it to the piece that you used as filler.

    • 8). Allow the glue to dry. Wait two or three hours to safely ensure that the glue is completely dry.

    • 9). Place the flower in the kiln and set the temperature to 1,450 degrees Fahrenheit. Monitor it carefully until you see the glass fused together. Once finished, remove the glass from the kiln and allow it to cool off.
