The Whole Future Work of the Almighty God Was Lying Endangered in This Fishing Boat, Asleep!

Have you ever wondered why there was such a storm on the water that night when Jesus and His disciples were sailing from Capernaum towards the Golan Heights area, called the Gerasenes? Do you understand something of why there was such a violent storm on the Lake of Galilee that night? A demonised man is about to be delivered and set free.
Could this be prevented? Can this be stopped? Jesus and His chosen men are sailing across the Lake.
Jesus is exhausted.
He has been active, preaching and teaching, and answering questions.
He is worn out.
He is physically tired.
He falls asleep.
Rest and sleep are all He needs.
So often a good sleep might be the therapy which will do us most good.
Suddenly there is a storm, and the boat is being thrown around.
You can be swimming in Galilee's refreshing waters and a few hours later it appears like a boiling cauldron, caused by cool air drifting through the Horns of Hittim, and falling onto the warm water.
On my various visits to the Galilee I have witnessed this once.
It happened just a few hours after we had been safely swimming in these calm cooling waters.
These experienced fishermen knew the danger they were in, as water is coming into the boat.
This is a crisis, and it is much more serious than a band of men drowning.
The whole future work of God is lying in this little fishing boat, and He is asleep! If it could be wiped out now, what a triumph that would have been for the enemy of God, as the devil attempts to endanger, discourage, demoralise, depress and destroy.
Apply that to what Jesus is saying to us in these present days, when we can so easily think all will be lost.
That will never happen.
It says so in the Word of God.
As they are on the point of being wiped out, they wake Jesus.
Could they not trust Him? He does challenge them regarding their faith, but then a word from Christ calms that raging storm.
Jesus never promised a smooth journey, but He did promise to be with us.
Whatever you are going through today as you read this allow the words of the risen living Lord Jesus Christ to minister to you in your present circumstances.
