How to Play the Chinese Christmas Gift Exchange Game
- 1). Tell each guest to bring a wrapped gift to your party, and set a price limit for the gifts. When guests arrive at your party, have them put all the gifts in one location.
- 2). Pass around a bowl or hat with numbered pieces of paper in it to all of your guests. Tell guests to draw a piece of paper. The numbers on the papers will determine the order of the gift selecting.
- 3). The person who drew the number one selects a gift from the pile and unwraps it.
- 4). The person with the number two can either steal the first person's present or choose another gift from the pile of presents.
- 5). If the first person's gift is stolen, he gets to choose another wrapped gift from the pile.
- 6). The third person to go can steal either the first or second person's present or pick one from the pile and open it.
- 7). Continue the game with each person either stealing a gift that was previously opened or selecting an unopened gift until you get to the last person. (If any person's gift is stolen, he should choose an unopened gift from the pile.) The last person can either pick any of the opened presents or pick the last remaining unwrapped gift. If the last person steals someone else's gift, then the person whose present is taken will be given the last unwrapped gift, and the game is over.
