How to Wash White Shoes in the Washing Machine
- 1). Remove insoles from the shoes, if they are removable. Many insoles are too fragile for machine-washing.
- 2). Brush loose soil from the shoes, using a shoe brush. If you do not own a shoe brush, use a soft-bristled toothbrush or similar item.
- 3). Treat grass stains or other difficult stains on your shoes with a pre-wash stain stick or spray. Allow the product to sit on the shoes for up to five minutes. If white shoes are canvas, make sure the product does not contain bleach, as this often stains canvas yellow.
- 4). Set your shoes in the machine. You may also add towels or other durable laundry items that you don't mind being washed with the shoes. Add regular laundry detergent.
- 5). Wash the shoes on a gentle cycle in warm water. Hang the shoes to dry outdoors or in a well-ventilated area.
