Hanging Pottery Leaf Plaque by Beth Peterson

Spring Leaves
Beth Peterson
Low-fire white clay body with glazes and underglazes.

Potter's Statement: I used leaves (and their stems) from two different house plants. I dipped one side of several bamboo leaves into yellow underglaze, then pressed them into the clay slab, then impressed several leaves from my prayer plant into the clay as well. Once bisqued, the leaves were of course burned away.

I then used glaze to highlight the prayer plant leaf impressions and the background, with blue underglaze added to the stem areas.

A clear transparent glaze went over all. All in all, I'm quite pleased with the piece.
