More Decorating Tips -- Light Tester

Any other tips for Christmas decorators and collectors?
The newer LED lights are becoming more affordable and folks are starting to seek them out, especially with the tremendous energy savings. But there are pros and cons to the lights. The lights should never burn out like a traditional Christmas light, but if one is broken it cannot be replaced. The lights are permanently fused in place.
The clear LED light is the hardest, most expensive one to produce and since it is difficult to get a clean white light, you'll notice that most of the clear lights have a blue tint to them.

Some folks don't care for the lights as they are not the same shape as the traditional lights and the light structure is much brighter to the eyes.

Professional Light Tester
If a collector uses traditional miniature lights, a good investment to make is a professional light tester. It's amazing! It will help you fix the two most common causes of light failure, oxidation of the shunt and cracked or broken bulbs.

First, it will burn oxidation off the shunt and allow the lights to work again.

Second, if the light is cracked or broken, it will cause a hissing noise to be emitted from the cracked or broken bulb. It will also hiss if there is a broken wire or socket but those cannot be repaired.

When I was setting up our Christmas tree I had several lights that had gone out and in about five minutes it found the problem and fixed them!
