How to Locate a Pressure Governor Control

    • 1). Drive the front of the vehicle on a set of wheel ramps. Set the parking brake and place wheel chocks behind the rear wheels.

    • 2). Place a drain pan underneath the drain plug on the transmission. Loosen the drain plug and allow the transmission fluid to drain out of the pan.

    • 3). Remove the bolts holding the transmission pan in place with a socket wrench. Lower the pan and remove the two screws holding the transmission filter in place with a Torx socket bit.

    • 4). Pull the filter out of the transmission. The governor solenoid is located toward the rear of the transmission pan area, and the pressure sensor is to the left of the solenoid. To remove the pressure sensor and solenoid, unbolt the bracket holding the governor pressure sensor and governor solenoid, and then disconnect the wiring harnesses connected to both devices. Pull the sensor and solenoid out of the transmission.
