Negative Experiences - Learn From Them and Let Them Go

Let's face it we all go through experiences in life, some being negative and some positive.
But are these experiences truly negative or positive? Who decides if your experience is good or bad? You do...
Someone once told me that there is no such thing as success or failure but only events/experiences.
Let me clarify this via an example: In tennis you have the Wimbledon Championship (a major event).
In this event you have many players who have different experiences, however in this example I am just focusing on two players.
The first player being Roger Federer and the second a wild card player that no one has heard of.
Let's say that both players lose in each of their semi-final rounds.
Most likely Roger is going to walk away from this tournament saying it was a negative outcome as he didn't win the championship.
However, Roger will most probably hold on to this experience until he has learned from it and the let it go.
The wild card player, will most likely walk away saying it was a positive experience as he made it to the semi-final.
You see it was the same event, same round, and even the same outcome.
Yet it will be the perspective of the player that decides if he sees the events outcome as a success or failure.
If you have a bad experience don't hold on to it, learn from it and let it go.
Trust me when I say this you will be much happier and create many more opportunities if you do so.
Let me give you one of my examples.
On Thursday 12th of May 2011 I had my left shoulder operated on for the third time.
I have dislocated my left shoulder 42 times, the majority of my dislocations happened from playing ice hockey at high competitive level.
I am not allowed to play anymore due to my shoulder.
To me this was a negative and very frustrating experience.
After putting in endless hours of rehab, skill and strength development to build myself back up to high level competition I injured myself again...
Ever felt like you have worked so hard at something and you feel like all that hard work is finally starting to pay off, but as soon as you get that feeling the ground itself falls underneath you??? Well that's exactly how I felt, and more than once...
It was very 'easy' for me to view these recurring experiences as negative ones.
I must admit I did complain saying things like 'why me'? This isn't fair..
...
But this didn't get me anywhere.
In fact by holding on to these negative thoughts it put me back mentally.
I allowed these thoughts to manifest in my mind which created a lot of doubt in my ability to perform.
It's very easy to hold on to your negative thoughts and put yourself down and point the finger, but I'm about to show the 'Benefits of Letting Go...
' I knew there was nothing I could do to change what had happened to me, so I 'decided' to let these negative experiences go and view it as a positive one.
If there is one thing you can take away from this blog then take this, anything and everything all starts with a 'DECISION TO CHANGE & THEN AN ACTION ON THAT DECISION'.
I have learned that you can take away so many good things from bad experiences.
For my example I learned:
  • I will always make a comeback
  • That I am strong mentally and physically
  • That experiences like this are just speed humps not road blocks
  • That when one door closes it will give me the opportunity to look for another door ready to be opened.
  • And much more
Everyone has negative experiences, however sometimes these experiences that we are pushing away contain the most transformational insights that we need to have.
This is so relevant in the MLM business.
People are always pushing away experiences, 'oh why isn't this happening, this MLM Business isn't working, I can't do Network Marketing' and they just push it away and build a bigger road block for themselves and end up quitting.
This is where you just need to let go of all those emotions from that negative experience you had in your MLM Business and take a step back and re-analyse the situation.
Why did this happen? What can I learn and take away from this? And how can I tackle it? Then from there rejuvenate your energy and step forward in productive action, step up to that plate and keep swinging.
Just let go of that constant drive that is within us.
Just be comfortable about what you are actually doing, be comfortable with the experiences you are having, because the journey to your desired destination is the most exciting part...
