How to Juice Citrus With the Skin

    • 1). Wash the citrus fruit thoroughly under running water.

    • 2). Cut the citrus fruit in half across the widest section in the middle, using the knife.

    • 3). Cup each half of the citrus fruit with your palm and squeeze the juice into the jug, if you choose to squeeze the fruit by hand. Using your hand to manually squeeze the juice out of the fruit is the simplest method, but also the most inefficient. Squeezing the fruit by hand gives you less juice, and you are likely to end up with the tart oils from the skin of the fruit on your hands.

    • 4). Squeeze the juice out of each half of the fruit, using the fork. This method may extract more juice than squeezing by hand. Use this method to extract additional juice from pieces of fruit that you squeezed by hand.

    • 5). Place each half of the citrus fruit on the citrus reamer -- with the cut side down on the raised squeezer in the middle of the reamer -- and twist the fruit from side to side until all of the juice has been squeezed out of it. If you use an automatic citrus reamer, you will not need to twist the fruit, as the reaming process is electronic and you will extract more juice from the fruit.

    • 6). Strain the seeds and bits from the juice by pouring it through the strainer into a fresh jug or glass.
