Pennsylvania Worker's Compensation Information
- The Pennsylvania Workers' Compensation Act covers almost every worker. Employers must provide workers' compensation coverage for each employee.
- A worker who incurs an injury, illness, or disease in the workplace may be eligible for workers' compensation benefits. Workers' compensation does not cover self-inflicted injuries or injuries caused by an employee’s violation of the law.
- A worker must notify her employer of the injury when it occurs. If the employee misses a day of work or a shift because of the injury, the employer must report the injury to the Bureau of Workers' Compensation.
- A worker may be eligible for a variety of benefits, including lost wage payments, specific loss benefits and medical care. If a worker dies in a work-related accident, the surviving family members may be entitled to death benefits.
- With the exception of occupational disease cases, compensation will not be allowed when the employee fails to give the employer notice of the injury within 120 days.
