How to Find Product with Patent Number
- 1). Visit the Google Patents page (see References below).
Google, the online search company, has a homepage devoted to helping Internet users find patents from a patent number. - 2). Enter the patent number in the search field and click on "search patents." You will see a listing of all product descriptions under the patent number. If the patent number is correct, the first result is the correct product description matching the patent number you entered. For example, the title of your first result may indicate "cup holder." This means that the patent number you entered was approved for a cup holder.
- 3). Click on the title of the first result on the first page of results. You will see all pertinent information related to the product for which the patent was issued. Some of the information displayed will include the date when the patent was filed and the date when the patent was issued. You will also find a schema of the product in the top left-hand corner.
