How to Write a Copyright Page for a Book
- 1). Open a new blank document on your computer's word processing software.
- 2). Place the cursor about 1/4 of the way down the document. Stay in left alignment.
- 3). Type in what edition the book is, then type in the month and year of publication.
Ex: Revised edition, March 2009. - 4). Double-space, then type the word "Copyright." Then type in the initial copyright info: the copyright symbol (lower-case c enclosed between two parentheses), the year of the copyright and who owns the copyright.
Ex: Copyright (c) 2009 by Joe Smith. - 5). Single-space, then list any cover design or photo credits.
- 6). Double-space, then type "All rights reserved."
- 7). Double-space, then type in your Permissions to Reproduce paragraph. This should start with "No part of of this book may be used unless...", and then go on to say who can use the book's material and for what reasons. At the end of that paragraph, type in a new sentence that says where all inquiries can go. This is generally the book's publisher, so just type in the publisher's name followed by its address.
- 8). Double-space, then type "Library of Congress Cataloging-in-Publication Data" (if applicable). Double-space, then type in your Library of Congress information in bibliography format. This should include all of the book's core details like the author's name, the book's title, the edition, the subject, the genre, the page count and the ISBN.

Ex: Copyright (c) 2009 by Joe Smith. - 4). Double-space, then type the copyright information for the first story in the anthology. This should include the story's title, the copyright owner, where it was originally published and the reprint information.
Ex: "My Story" copyright (c) 1998 by Joe Smith. First published in "My Magazine." Reprinted by permission of the author. - 5). Repeat Step 4 for every story. If you have too many stories to put on one page, you will have to create an "Acknowledgements" section of the anthology and place it in the back of the book. Refer the reader to that section on the copyright page. The format for listing the stories does not change.
