If kids are going to be present at your baby shower, involve them in the festivities by having some craft projects available for them to do. Kids love babies, and welcoming them with a craft is the perfect project for them. It will also give them something to do while the grownups open gifts and honor the new mom. Having projects for kids will make them feel like part of the party too, and the new mom will love their "presents." - Print some baby-themed coloring pages and let the kids color a special picture for the new baby. Or, provide blank paper and tell the kids to create a drawing for the mom or with a special message to the new baby. They can all be put into a folder and given to the new mom as a souvenir of her shower.
- Have a designated adult help the children create bibs and onesies for the new baby. Using plain white bibs and onesies, kids can paint on them with fabric paint that squeezes out of the bottle. They can draw baby items or a sweet or funny message to the baby.
- Using hangers and string, kids can string plastic rattles onto the hanger to make a mobile of toys for the new baby. They could also use other items such as pacifiers. Kids will love creating something special for the baby and it's easy to make a mobile.
- Purchase a baby themed pinata. Have the children get involved by letting them fill the pinata and then break it. Fill it with small gifts for the baby or baby themed erasers, keychains or toys. The new mom can take home the goodies, though the kids may want to put in some candy for themselves.
