Ceramic Bathroom Tile Brings New Life To Your Bathroom

It may be true that most people don't use much of their creativity when it comes to the tiles in their bathrooms since they consider them to be a utilitarian room more than anything else. If you were to imagine a bunch of bathroom tiles in your head, you would probably visualize small little squares all the same color, probably white or off-white. And yet, some people are now discovering that tiles can come in every size and pattern and shape and color known to human beings. Thanks to excellent options such as ceramic bathroom tile, the days of the drab bathroom tile are quickly disappearing. In their wake: a new era of bright tile patterns greeting people every time they enter their bathrooms.

One current trend in the world of the ceramic bathroom tile is to have entire walls tiled from top to bottom. Before, it was much more common for bathroom walls to only be tiled about halfway down. It's also more common nowadays for tiles to not just be squares of the same size, but to be rectangular; and some people are using tiles in shapes that are even more visually daring. Also, tiles are not just four by fours any more; some are twice that size or even larger.

There's a distinct advantage to using larger tiles, too: you'll use less mortar or grout when applying larger tiles to your walls, as there naturally will be fewer spaces to fill in. It's also acceptable to leave small gaps between your wall tiles; generally people in the industry will tell you that a gap of about an eighth of an inch or smaller between two tiles is fine.) When it comes to the plaster you decide to use, many people feel that it's better to use a plaster that's lighter in color than the tiles are. On the other hand, if your plaster is too light than it will probably look dirty even soon after you've cleaned it.

You can also get creative when you're arranging tiles on your bathroom floors and walls. You can tile just a part of your walls and paint the rest, which gives you a lot of opportunity to introduce all kinds of colors to your bathroom. You can create a frame of tiles around your bathroom window. You could even have a line of tiles zigging and zagging around your entire bathroom. Let your imagination free. The important thing is that you use the ceramic bathroom tiles you buy to create a space that makes you happy.
