Pet Parrot Training Tips

One of my favorite creatures to have as a pet is a Parrot.
They are very intelligent birds and they learn so quickly they are a pleasure to train.
We all know that intelligence can be a burden.
Highly intelligent people need constant stimulation to stop them becoming bored and irritable; and Parrots are exactly the same.
You need to spend an awful lot of time with them so they respond to you and interact.
There are a few things you should always bear in mind while training your Parrot.
It should always be done in a quiet yet small space so your bird is out of his cage.
The different environment will stimulate your Parrot and he will retain more of the training.
You also must make sure that wherever you are training your Parrot is free from distractions such as a cell phone, television and radio.
Your Parrot needs to focus so removing all these will ensure that he is.
Don't think that your Parrot will learn quicker by having long training sessions.
They have a very short attention span so make sure the sessions are short but frequent.
A really good time to hold a training session is just after he has been fed.
This will ensure that he is at his most receptive as he will be satisfied from his meal.
Even if you are disappointed with the way that the training session has gone, never let your Parrot sense your stress.
However the sessions go; give your bird plenty of praise so he thinks that he has done well.
If you fail to do this, you will find it hard to get his attention in future as he will think there's no point.
Training a Parrot is anything but easy, so don't start it if you don't think you have the patience and commitment to see it through.
If you can stick with it, you will be so proud of the amazing companion you will have for years to come.
