How to Write on Heat Shrink Materials

Writing on Heat Shrink Materials Before Shrinking

    • 1). Write on the pre-cut heat shrink material with a fine-tipped, permanent marker, such as a Sharpie, on the same side that you are adding color or drawing your design onto, or write the letters or design with dark colored pencils. Pencils will be a lighter shade than using a marker.

    • 2). Write your letters clearly, as they will shrink upon contact with the heat source.

    • 3). Write your letters or other designs with plenty of room around them so that when it shrinks it does not merge into another part of the design.

    • 1). Allow the item to cool.

    • 2). Write on the shrunken material with a fine-tipped, permanent marker on the side of the material that you added color to prior to the shrinking process. This is generally the rougher side.

    • 3). Make your lettering clear. Block letters are easier to read and easier to size smaller.
