How to Replace Windshield Blades

    • 1). Visit a local car-parts store and seek out a directory that identifies the proper replacement windshield wiper blade for your particular vehicle. Consult a staff person at the store to direct you to the directory. Purchase the correct pair of blades for your vehicle, which typically can be done for $20 or less.

    • 2). Park your vehicle and take the keys out of the ignition. Carefully open the packaging containing your new set of blades and remove them. Set aside.

    • 3). Start on the driver's side and pull the driver's side windshield wiper frame away from the windshield, until it is standing perpendicular to the windshield. Squeeze the brackets on your old blade and slide it off of the windshield wiper hook. Remove the blade from the passenger's side using a similar technique.

    • 4). Guide the new wiper onto the windshield wiper hook. Secure the blade by snapping the bracket into place on the windshield wiper hook. Do the same with the passenger's side wiper blade. Position both installed blades against the windshield and discard of the old blades and the packaging for the new ones.
