My Kenmore Front Load Dryer Is Not Drying

    Power

    • The most basic element that enables the Kenmore dryer to actually dry items is power. You should check the circuit breaker and fuses because the dryer takes more than just one fuse or circuit breaker to power up completely. Replace or reset the circuit breakers or fuses as necessary. In addition, the dryer cannot dry clothes if the power cord is too loose in the electrical outlet.

    Lint

    • Lint is accumulated with every load of clothes dried in both the lint screen and in the exhaust vent. However, too much lint can limit airflow and even restrict heating. Kenmore recommends that you clean the lint screen before every use, but check and clean it if items aren’t drying as expected. The exhaust vent should also be checked for an excess of lint buildup and cleaned as needed.

    Overloading

    • Sometimes if a load is too large, the air cannot tumble well in the dryer and items will remain damp or even wet when the cycle is done. While the “Auto Dry” cycle can help eliminate this problem as it uses moisture sensors to track how long the cycle should run, you can assist this by not overloading the dryer and sorting clothes by fabric type. (Conversely, if the load size consists of only one or two items, this may not be enough to tumble and a few more pieces should be added.)

    Repair Considerations

    • Unfortunately, sometimes even the best dryer has problems with the motor or the thermostat and cannot dry items. Other possible problems include a burnt out heating element or a clogged or crushed vent. While simply clearing the vent hose of lint and/or other debris may resolve the problem, it may need professional repair or cleaning.
