How to Keep Your Tig Welds Small

- 1). Place the two pieces of metal on a flat work surface, so the edges are butted together.
- 2). Put on safety glasses, welding hood and welding gloves.
- 3). Turn on the welding machine to the required amperage for the metal. Then turn on the gas to the tig torch.
- 4). Bring your torch slowly to the metal, until it's approximately three-thirtyseconds of an inch away from the metal.
- 5). Flip down the welding hood.
- 6). Run your foot switch. Move your hand in a small, oscillating motion. The width of the motion will determine the width of the weld.
