The Importance of Living Your Life by Example
Living by example is the best way to expose your new philosophies and beliefs to others.
You must become the messenger as well as being the message.
If you're uncertain on how to start sharing your new self, here are a few guidelines that you might want to implement.
Smile more often.
At first people may think you're trying to hide something, or that you've done something you shouldn't have.
Don't worry; your sincerity will shine through in most situations.
There is nothing more contagious than a smile.
Smile while you're on the phone.
A smile changes your voice and your personal projection.
People enjoy being around happy people.
It's just more relaxing.
As a matter of fact, I recently read another article reaffirming the fact again that happiness and laughter do indeed lead to a longer and healthier life.
Could you imagine a war if everyone was laughing and smiling all of the time? I couldn't.
It's just an observation, but could it really be that simple? Get healthy.
A healthy person radiates life, love and excitement.
You don't have to run out and join a health club.
Just get into the habit of doing things that are good for you, treat yourself special.
Quit smoking.
Lose some weight.
Take a walk.
Eat well.
Think good thoughts.
Get regular medical checkups.
Your body is your vessel, repair the leaks, fix the sails and catch a steady wind.
Life is a journey to be enjoyed.
Help someone.
It doesn't matter what you do as long as you're sincere in your efforts.
When you do something good, payback is generally ten fold.
In the early 80's my family was faced with some extremely difficult financial obstacles.
There are some things you just can't hide from your children.
They knew we were stressed and that we were financially hobbled.
We had one daughter in college and the other in high school and they both had jobs.
You may see where I'm going with this, so here it is.
Both of our daughters made financial and social sacrifices.
In addition, they both made unsolicited monetary offerings to help alleviate the family's financial crises.
Linda and I were both humbled by the compassion of our daughters.
Those actions made such a lasting mark in our hearts that even to this day, with all we have done for our daughters; we still don't feel we can ever do enough to repay their unselfish actions.
It's not the money, the amounts were insignificant.
However, the love behind their support can't be measured in dollars, but only by the goodness of their deeds.
We'll keep sharing and giving to our daughters and their families for as long as we can.
If we run out of money we know where to go.
